Jianshu Privacy Policy
This Policy explains how individual developer qinghong meng collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your personal information when providing the Jianshu App and related services, and how you may exercise your related rights.
1. Scope and Personal Information Processor
This Policy applies to the Jianshu iOS App, related online services, and supporting pages. The personal information processor is individual developer qinghong meng, whose contact email is a617257112@163.com.
This Policy does not apply to services independently provided by third parties that determine their own purposes and methods of processing. For independent processors such as Apple and third-party model service providers, we explain their purposes and the types of information involved in this Policy; you should also read the applicable third party's privacy rules.
2. Local Data and iCloud
2.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
Core content that you create in Jianshu, including families, storage spaces, photo zones, item names, location relationships, notes, and search information, is generally stored locally on your device. We do not upload this complete business content in order to provide basic services, verify quotas, or compile usage statistics.
2.2 iCloud Sync
If the relevant feature becomes available and you enable iCloud sync, core content will be synchronized across devices through your Apple iCloud storage. Apple will then process the data in accordance with your Apple account settings, the iCloud Terms of Service, and Apple's Privacy Policy. We cannot access your iCloud password, and we do not copy iCloud data to Jianshu's online services for advertising or user profiling.
3. Online Service Information We Process
To provide services without requiring a traditional account login, protect access security, verify AI quotas, measure service quality, and manage subscription entitlements, we process the following information only to the extent necessary. During the initial phase, you are not required to provide your name or mobile phone number.
| Information Category | Specific Information | Purpose of Processing | Retention Rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anonymous service identifiers | Anonymous identifiers generated by the App, support number, and service status | Provide services without an account login, identify entitlements, handle support requests, and prevent abuse | Retained while the service is in use; deleted or anonymized after we receive a valid deletion request or the applicable cleanup conditions are met |
| Device and App environment | App version, operating system version, device model, language, and region | Compatibility assessment, service adaptation, troubleshooting, and basic statistics | Retained with the service status and aggregated or anonymized as needed for statistical purposes |
| Crash and stability diagnostics | App and operating system versions, device model, network status, device identifier information generated by or lawfully obtained by the SDK under its rules, as well as crash stacks, threads, exception times, and necessary runtime context | Measure trends in crashes, freezes, and OOM events, locate code issues, and improve App stability | Processed by Umeng+ U-APM for the shortest period necessary to achieve the diagnostic purposes, and deleted, anonymized, or aggregated in accordance with its privacy rules |
| Network and security records | Access time, network address, basic device and browser information, service response results, and exception summaries | Authentication, access frequency controls, attack prevention, security audits, and troubleshooting | Retained for the shortest period necessary for security and troubleshooting; necessary portions may be retained longer as permitted by law during a dispute or security incident |
| Usage information | Feature usage time, App version, and summary usage results | Measure feature usage, active installations, and service stability | Aggregated, anonymized, or deleted after the statistical purpose has been achieved |
| AI usage records | Call time, whether the call was allowed, quota usage, success or failure, failure category, elapsed time, and summary usage statistics returned by the model service provider, such as Token counts | Enforce free or subscription quotas, measure call and resource usage trends, investigate calls that were not reported, and troubleshoot failures; these usage statistics are not used for advertising profiles or automated billing settlement | Detailed records are generally retained for 90 days; after that period, they are deleted or only aggregate statistics that cannot identify an individual are retained |
| App security verification information | When the feature is enabled and the device supports it, App authenticity verification results and anti-abuse information generated by the system | Confirm that requests come from a genuine App and prevent abnormal or duplicate requests | Retained with the service security status; cleaned up as required for security after expiration, revocation, or deletion of the related service records |
| Subscription entitlement information | After the feature is launched and a purchase is made, subscription product, subscription status, validity period, and necessary transaction and subscription identifiers provided by Apple; bank card numbers and complete payment account information are processed by Apple | Verify transactions with Apple, restore purchases, grant or revoke subscription entitlements, handle refunds and disputes, and protect payment synchronization security | Original signed credentials are processed only for the brief period necessary to complete verification and are not retained long term; normalized subscription and transaction records are retained for the period necessary for performance, dispute handling, and legal requirements |
We do not use the information above for third-party targeted advertising, nor do we build marketing profiles based on the contents of your storage spaces. If future features require the collection of other information, we will explain the purpose and scope before collection through an updated policy, feature description, or system authorization prompt.
To reduce exposure of payment information, after the server completes Apple signature verification, it retains only the normalized records necessary to provide entitlements, restore purchases, handle refunds, or resolve disputes, and does not retain the original signed payload long term. Necessary Apple transaction and subscription identifiers are protected through encryption, masking, and access restrictions, and ordinary diagnostic logs do not record complete identifiers or payment credentials.
4. Photos and AI Image Recognition
4.1 When Photos Are Sent
Only when you actively select or take an image and trigger a cloud feature such as “AI Image Recognition” will the App process the selected image to complete that recognition request. Local photos that have not been submitted to a cloud AI feature are not automatically uploaded because of installation identity registration, heartbeats, or ordinary usage statistics.
4.2 Transmission Path
Before AI image recognition is used, the system performs the necessary quota and security checks. After those checks pass, the App sends the image you selected to the current AI service provider over a secure network. We do not collect or retain the image used for recognition, nor do we retain the complete recognition result. The model service provider may return summary resource usage statistics with the recognition response. The App submits those statistics to our online services for service quality analysis and troubleshooting; this process does not include the image used for recognition, the complete prompt, or the complete model response.
4.3 Current Service Provider and Changes
The current cloud AI service may be provided by a third party such as Alibaba Cloud Model Studio / DashScope. We may change the actual service provider based on service quality, availability, and compliance requirements. If a related change materially affects your personal information rights and interests, we will notify you through the App or by updating this Policy, and obtain separate consent when required by law.
4.4 Recommendations for Use
Please do not select images containing highly sensitive content, such as identity documents, financial accounts, medical records, precise home addresses, sensitive information about minors, or faces unrelated to the purpose of image recognition. Recognition results may be inaccurate; you should verify them before saving or using them.
5. System Permissions
Jianshu requests the following iOS permissions when you use the corresponding features. Refusing a permission does not affect unrelated features, and you may change permissions in system settings at any time.
| Permission | Use Case | Effect of Refusal |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Take photos of storage spaces and items for photo zoning, recordkeeping, or AI image recognition that you actively trigger | You cannot take photos directly, but you can continue using features that do not depend on the camera |
| Photos | Select photos of storage spaces and items from your photo library | You cannot select images from your photo library; where supported by iOS, you may grant access only to selected photos |
| Location While Using the App | Obtain your current location when you set a family location, assisting you in saving the family name and latitude and longitude | Your location cannot be determined automatically; you can continue using other features or set it manually where the interface permits |
Location is accessed only when you actively use the family location feature and grant permission; it is not used for continuous background tracking or advertising profiles. Family location data is generally stored locally or processed by Apple iCloud after you enable iCloud sync. Unless we explain otherwise, we do not use this information for basic online service statistics.
6. Third-Party Services
The following third parties may independently process necessary information when you use the corresponding features. The scope actually enabled depends on the App's current functionality.
| Third Party | Purpose | Information That May Be Processed | Rules |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alibaba Cloud Model Studio / DashScope | Provide cloud AI image recognition that you actively trigger | The selected image, text instructions required for recognition, and the generated recognition result | Privacy Policy |
| Umeng Tongxin (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. (Umeng+ U-APM) | Provide stability diagnostics for crashes, freezes, and OOM events through U-APM | Device and App environment, network status, device identifier information, crash stacks, threads, exception times, and necessary runtime context; this does not include the content of storage spaces, item records, or photos | Umeng+ Privacy Policy |
| Apple iCloud | Synchronize core App data after you enable the feature | Storage spaces, photos, item records, and related information that you choose to synchronize | Apple Privacy Policy |
| Apple App Store | Subscription purchases, renewals, refunds, and entitlement verification | Product and transaction identifiers and subscription status; payment account and bank card information is processed by Apple | Apple Privacy Policy |
| Apple App Security Verification Services | Verify App authenticity and prevent fraud or abuse after the feature is enabled | Security verification information generated by the system; this does not include fingerprint or facial data | Apple Privacy Policy |
8. Retention Periods and Storage Location
Information processed by the online services is generally stored within the People's Republic of China and retained only for the shortest period necessary to achieve the purposes described in this Policy. Specific periods are stated in the “Online Service Information We Process” table. After the necessary period expires, we delete or anonymize the information, or retain it in segregated storage as required by law.
If a longer period is required to fulfill legal obligations, handle complaints or disputes, complete a security investigation, or comply with requirements from courts or competent authorities, we retain only the information necessary for that matter and process it in accordance with law after the purpose has been completed. If personal information is transferred across borders in the future, we will complete the legally required notice, separate consent, and necessary procedures before doing so.
9. Security Protection
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the scale of the service, including:
- Encrypting network transmissions among the App, browser, and online services;
- Protecting important service credentials and administrative access through authentication, access controls, and encryption;
- Applying encryption, masking, and restricted query measures to necessary Apple transaction and subscription identifiers so that complete values are not displayed in ordinary logs or pages;
- Using risk identification, access frequency limits, security audits, and other measures to prevent abuse;
- Controlling internal access according to the principle of least privilege;
- Avoiding the retention of sensitive content unrelated to the processing purpose in diagnostic records.
No internet service is absolutely secure. If a personal information security incident may affect your rights and interests, we will take remedial measures in accordance with law and, as required by applicable law, inform you of the circumstances, possible effects, measures taken, and precautions you can take.
10. Your Rights
To the extent provided by applicable law, you may request that we:
- Access, copy, correct, or supplement personal information associated with anonymous service records;
- Delete personal information, clear related records from the online services, or stop specified processing;
- Explain this Policy and related automated verification rules;
- Allow you to withdraw consent-based processing; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal;
- Accept complaints or comments about personal information processing activities.
Because a traditional account login is not required during the initial phase, you may assist us in verifying your identity by providing the support number in the App and other necessary information. Do not send account passwords, payment passwords, complete payment credentials, or other service keys by email. We will process your request within the period required by law after verification. If a request is clearly unreasonable, would infringe the rights and interests of others, or may be refused by law, we will explain the reason.
After related records are deleted from the online services, the previous service status may become invalid, and the App may prompt you to reestablish the service status the next time it connects to the internet. Uninstalling the App does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription and may not delete data in iCloud; use Apple's subscription settings and iCloud management entry, respectively.
You may disable Camera, Photos, or Location permissions in iOS Settings, or stop using AI image recognition while continuing to use local features that do not depend on that service.
11. Protection of Minors
Jianshu is not specifically designed for minors under the age of 14. If you are under 14, you should read this Policy with your guardian and use the App only after obtaining your guardian's consent. Guardians should instruct minors not to select images containing sensitive information about themselves or others for cloud AI image recognition.
If we discover that we have processed the personal information of a minor under 14 without the guardian's consent, we will delete it as soon as possible in accordance with law or take other protective measures. Guardians may contact us using the email address stated in this Policy.
12. Policy Updates
We may update this Policy in response to changes in features, model service providers, security measures, or legal requirements, and will display the updated date on this page. Material changes involving processing purposes, information types, recipients, or your principal rights will be communicated through an in-App pop-up, prominent notice, or other reasonable means, and we will obtain your consent again when required by law.
13. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Policy or wish to exercise your personal information rights, please contact us as follows.
