1. Agreement and scope
These terms are between you and independent developer qinghong meng for using NearDock (“近链” in Simplified Chinese) and its local browser connection features. Read them before use, together with the Privacy Policy. Stop using the app if you do not agree. Minors should use it with a parent or guardian’s guidance and consent.
These terms supplement the rules for using NearDock’s features. When you obtain the app through an Apple store, the applicable Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) and store usage rules continue to apply. Non-excludable consumer rights remain unaffected.
2. Features and connection requirements
NearDock supports one-to-one messages, photos, videos and file transfers between nearby devices. A device running the app can also host local webpage entries for browsers. Core communication requires no developer account or developer-operated cloud relay.
Native connections require compatible app versions running on both devices. Browser connections require network reachability. Operating system versions, permissions, network isolation, firewalls, sleep, iOS background limits, storage and browser capabilities can affect discovery, speed, reception and resume. The app is not an emergency communication or always-on hosting service and does not guarantee any distance, speed or continuous background reception.
3. Connecting and transferring responsibly
Check the device name and first-pairing verification code to confirm the intended recipient. A discovery name is not a third-party-verified identity. Once a native session connects, text arrives directly and attachments may be queued for automatic reception. Connect only to devices you trust and open received content carefully.
Browser entries use unencrypted HTTP by default. Avoid HTTP for sensitive content. HTTPS uses a locally generated, self-signed certificate; compare the host fingerprint and assess browser trust warnings. Complete links and QR codes contain access credentials and allow entry without another host confirmation. Do not publish them.
Recipients may save, copy or forward content. Deleting a local message or closing an entry does not recall sent data. For a normal browser download, “Sent” does not prove that a file was successfully saved on the recipient’s disk. Check the browser download list.
4. Your content and lawful use
You retain the rights you lawfully hold in your content. Make sure you have authority to send, receive, store, forward or disclose it, including personal information, confidential material and intellectual property. Processing content to provide transfers does not transfer its ownership to the developer.
- Do not obtain, send or disclose another person’s private content without authorization, or use the app for harassment, fraud or other unlawful activity.
- Do not distribute malware or intentionally harm devices, networks or data.
- Do not misuse browser credentials, impersonate others or bypass pairing, session isolation or other safeguards.
- Do not unlawfully copy, sell or redistribute the app. Conduct expressly permitted by law or applicable open-source licenses is not improperly restricted by these terms.
The app does not guarantee that each file is safe, lawful or free of sensitive metadata. Check its source and content.
5. Managing data and privacy
Chat history, attachment copies and transfer records are stored locally. Protect your device and important files and keep independent backups as needed. NearDock does not provide developer-operated cloud chat recovery.
Deleting messages or conversations differs from “Clean files”: cleanup retains text and records such as file names. Local actions do not remove the recipient’s copies, originals, exported files or system backups. Some necessary deduplication and trust information may remain. Deleted or cleaned records may no longer be recoverable or resumable.
See the Privacy Policy for permissions, system services, browser storage and information actually processed by the developer. Do not send complete chats or private files unrelated to a support issue.
6. Licenses, third parties and charges
Protected app code, interface elements and branding belong to the developer or their respective rights holders. Using the app does not transfer their ownership. Follow applicable app licenses, Apple store rules and terms for system or third-party services you choose.
These terms do not establish a subscription, automatic renewal or new payment obligation. When obtaining the app from a store, pricing, payment and refunds follow the displayed offer and applicable store rules. You are responsible for any network or third-party service costs you incur.
7. Availability and responsibility
We reasonably maintain the app, but cannot guarantee fault-free operation across all devices, formats, networks or system states, uninterrupted transfers or freedom from data loss. Verify important files on the receiving device and keep necessary backups.
Each party is responsible as required by applicable law. These terms do not exclude legally required liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or limit consumer rights, statutory warranties or compensation that cannot lawfully be excluded.
The developer provides app support. If features change or stop being offered, we will provide necessary information and reduce disruption where reasonably practical.
8. Ending use, disputes and contact
You may stop using the app, disconnect and manage local data at any time. A serious breach may lead to lawful termination of the relevant license; this does not mean the developer can remotely access or delete your local chats.
Contact us first to try to resolve a dispute. Unresolved disputes may be submitted to an authority with lawful jurisdiction. Applicable law and mandatory protections in a consumer’s place of residence remain unaffected.
We may update these terms for changes in features, law or operation, display the date, and give appropriate notice of significant changes. For maintenance, support and terms questions, email a617257112@163.com.
